Action Taken Under Delegated Powers (Significant Operational Decision): New Town Hall Site Redevelopment Letter of Intent Sign Off

The following Significant Operational Decision has been taken by the Deputy Chief Executive in consultation with the Leader of the Council and the Head of Legal, Democracy and HR:

Agreed that the Council's Development Manager will provide the contractor with a Letter of Intent for both the development of the New Town Hall (and associated works) and the District Heat Network, stating our intention to appoint the contractor and allow them to undertake pre-contract works including finalising design, procuring sub-contractors and preparatory works ahead of signing a contract

The Golden Tree Sculpture Restoration

Work will take place to complete the final stages of the restoration work to The Golden Tree sculpture on the Historic High Street in October.

Over the summer the artist has been busy restoring the granite and bronze sections, which are now ready for the final stage where they will be lifted into place to restore the sculpture to its former state.

The work is scheduled to start during the first week of October. The fenced area currently surrounding the sculpture will be increased to allow the completion if the works and access for the public will be maintained via designated routes around the closure area.

Paving restoration works will also be taking place at a similar time. Once the sculpture is assembled, new bollards will be installed around its perimeter.
