Elections will be held on 24 October 2024.
In order to vote your name needs to be included on the Register of Electors. Find out about registering to vote and how to cast your vote.
Please check your poll card as your polling station might have changed since you last voted. Polling places are usually busier early in the morning and after school so you may want to go at a different time when it’s likely to be quieter.
You do not need to take your poll card with you in order to vote, however if you do it will speed up the process.
You may prefer your ballot papers to be posted to you, so you don’t need to go to a polling station to vote. If you are not already registered for a postal vote you can apply here.
You'll need to complete a separate declaration form if you return your postal vote by hand. We won't be able to count your vote without the declaration.
You may appoint someone to vote on your behalf, you can apply here.
The person you appoint as proxy must be registered to vote; be eligible to vote in these elections, and able to visit the polling station at which you would normally go to vote. This person can only vote as proxy for up to two domestic voters and two overseas voters.
At all elections you will need to show photographic identifcation before you can vote at a polling station. Find out what is acceptable voter ID, and how to request a Voter Authority Certificate if you have no suitable form of photographic identity.
