Entering and Exiting the Town Hall via the Create Building

Councillors are reminded to enter and exit via the Create Building outside of Main Reception opening times (9am-4pm) including before and after committee meetings. This is to ensure that the CBC Facilities Team know who is present in the building and to ensure that the Reception entrance remains secure at times when there are no CBC personnel in that space.

Town Centre Market

Crawley Borough Council recognises that the town centre market has been a long-standing and well-regarded asset the town centre ‘offer’ and we work hard to support traders and promote its operation in the Town.  The market attracts a diverse range of customers and it is the Council’s intention to encourage a ‘refreshed’ market with an increased offer, going forward.

The Station Gateway project will deliver a significant upgrade to the pedestrian public spaces on Haslett Avenue West, Friary Way and the Martlets, along with operational and layout improvements to Crawley bus station, working with Metrobus.  Subject to planning permission, it is envisaged that the works to deliver these improvements will start on site in autumn 2025. The programme of works is not anticipated to be completed until summer 2027.

In anticipation of these works taking place, it is the Council’s intention to apply to relocate the town centre market from Haslett Avenue West and The Broadway to the Queensway with effect from 12 March 2025.

In order to seek the views of interested parties, officers are undertaking a consultation exercise on this proposal with both the town centre market traders and those businesses located within and around Queensway.  Comments are invited between now and Sunday 8 December 2024.

Feedback from the consultation will be taken into account when planning the next steps and Councillors will be kept informed of progress.

If you would like to know more about the relocation plans or have any questions about this proposal, please contact Joseph Carey (Town Centre Regeneration Officer) joseph.carey@crawley.gov.uk.
