This decision has been taken by the Head of Strategic Housing following full consultation with the Cabinet Member for Housing who gave approval for these minor amendments at the Housing Portfolio Briefing on 6th March 2019

The Government issued Statutory Guidance in relation to Part 6 of the Housing Act 1996 in November 2018 requiring Local Authorities to review their Housing Allocation Scheme so that, where appropriate, victims of domestic violence are able to move into social housing from a refuge or other form of temporary accommodation by ensuing that:

·         They have appropriate priority for an allocation, and

·         Those who have fled to another area are not disadvantaged by any local connection or residency requirements set by that Local Housing Authority.

The Council’s Housing Allocations Scheme has been reviewed taking into consideration the Statutory Code of Guidance. The required changes to the wording took effect on Monday 11th March 2019.  The minor changes required do not affect or change the priority or qualification of current or future households on the housing register.
