Purpose:

The tenant submitted an offer to extend the lease in the medical centre from 74 years, which currently remains on the current lease, to 150 years in return for a financial payment.

Decision:

On 2nd August 2022, the Chief Executive took the decision to extend the lease of Gossops Green Medical Centre for 150 years and agreed a one-off capital payment. This decision was taken in consultation with the Leader of the Council and the Head of Corporate Finance.

Alternative options considered:

The payment proposed would be in excess of the market value as calculated by external surveyors. No further monies were able to be extracted from the current lease during the remaining 74 year lease term.
