Purpose:

Sport England have granted Crawley Borough Council funding from the Exchequer through the Swimming Pool Support Fund Phase II with a requirement for a restriction on title for K2 Crawley to be placed.

This funding award is for the installation of additional photovoltaic panels and installation of LED lighting within the facility. The award is in part due to the significant increase in utility costs over the past eighteen months which has greatly affected the provision of swimming pool facilities nationwide. The scheme also fits in with Crawley Borough Council's Climate Emergency Action Plan and feed into the wider decarbonisation project which has recently commenced.

Decision:

Place the restriction on the title for K2 Crawley to enable the funding to be released and move the decarbonisation projects forward.

Alternative options considered:

Not placing the restriction on title would go against the funding agreement from Sport England and therefore Crawley Borough council would not receive the funding.
