On 27 November 2017, Cabinet approved the
signage and wayfinding audit for the town centre and gave delegated
authority to the Head of Economic and Environmental Services, in
consultation with the Cabinet Member for Planning and Economic
Development, to agree the final design and placement locations of
the signs, subject to some public consultation over the images to
be used on the signage.
From 8 January 2018 to 9 February 2018, Crawley residents were
invited to share their feedback on the proposed icons and images to
be used on the new town centre signs, by completing an online
survey at www.crawley.gov.uk/consultation.
A full summary of the survey findings can be
found by visiting
www.regeneratingcrawley.org.uk/content/town-centre-signage-thank-you-your-feedback.
The findings concluded that the use of abstract shapes is a central
part of the place brand, however, based on the feedback received,
the icons which represent objects and activities will be used more
prominently than the abstract shapes. As the brand expands,
featuring in other media, the icons featured will be relevant to
the activity and/or place where the place brand is used. The images
to be used on the new town centre signs have been reviewed and
adjusted to reflect this feedback.
The Head of Economic and Environmental Services, in consultation
with the Cabinet Member for Planning and Economic Development have
agreed the final designs and the new signs will be installed from
mid March onwards.
